About the Colloquium
The Colloquium brings together researchers, professionals, practitioners, and policymakers, among others, in Brazil and the United States who share interest in the field of Communications in order to debate emergent trends, contemporary theories, hot topics, and methodological innovation from a comparative perspective. The goal is to stimulate dialogue between researchers from Brazil and the U.S. With this goal in mind, the Colloquium is open to participants who are researchers from either country, faculty and teaching professors of any rank, and graduate students in PhD program in Communication and related areas.
About the 2025 theme
The central theme of the 10th Brazil-US Colloquium is Producing knowledge across the field of Communication Studies: A dialog connecting the Americas. We welcome any topics related to this theme from a variety of theoretical or methodological perspectives. Comparative work is welcome but not required.
Format
The event languages are Portuguese and English. The meeting is organized in a flexible round-table format with in-person (mandatory for Brazilian participants) and online participation (for researchers in the U. S.) . As needed, informal translation will be available so that everyone can participate.
For Students
Both undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to attend the Colloquium. To submit research, however, students must 1) have earned a Bachelor degree in Communication or related areas, 2) have already earned an MA or MS, and/or 3) must be enrolled in a graduate program.

Abstract/Paper Submissions
Interested parties should submit an extended abstract or full article (optional), according to the model below. Submissions must be made to Intercom’s official submission portal (sistemas.intercom.org.br) under the selection or “option” Colóquio Brasil-EUA 2025. Prior registration for the event is required. Abstracts or full articles accepted for the event will be published in the Proceedings of Intercom 2025. Authors registered for the event, with the paper accepted and presented, will receive certificates for their participation and presentation.
